This week has been a bit of a different week for us at MGR Fluid Engineering. We have delivered BFPA training courses in Africa for the first time. The customer wanted their on site staff to understand how to make hydraulic hoses, test them and also inspect hoses on their machinery.
We proposed three BFPA approved courses:
Hydraulic Hose Assembly
Proof Pressure Testing
Hydraulic Hose Integrity
The courses were well received and we managed to include a decent practical content where several hose assemblies were made by each trainee The customer had a pressure test rig that was not working so during the training we designed the modifications and implemented them so that testing could take place safely. The trainees then developed a pressure testing process so that they could test their hoses to an ISO standard and do it safely. Each trainee was given the chance to perform a hydrostatic proof test, which helped them understand the process and what is required from a safety perspective.
The final course on hose inspection and integrity also had a practical content. Our customer had some hydraulic power units which we could inspect, collect the hose data and determine if there were any issues. We found some installation issues that could cause premature hose failure. Again the practical sessions supported the theory and the trainees gained valuable experience.
At MGR Fluid Engineering we can provide approved courses from the BFPA or we can develop bespoke on site training for hydraulic systems, hydraulic maintenance and hydraulic accumulators.
